I have a dialler which keeps attaching itself to system and dialling up premium rate number. Last phone bill was £378  should have been nil as its internet only anytime.  I can easily get rid of it ewach time by deleting the dialler from my connections, but only once it has dialled up costing me a few quid. Using norton anti virus.
My questions are   How can i get rid of it permanently and who is responsible for paying that bill. What can I do about it.
Apart from costing money its a damn nusuiance, as have to restart anything i was doing if it happens and it happens at least twice a day, if i forget to disconnect from internet before popping down tairs or using phone, it is likely thast when i come back i will be connected to this premium rate number.
I can find no trace of it after I have deleted the dialler, but it always comes back.
We are a voluntary organisation, and no way can we afford for this to be happening, but rely on internet access for much of our work.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
thanks

Hi Ginola,
As far as who's respncible, Not a clue, but if you put some spyware remover on your machine you might permanatly get rid of it, you might also get rid of it in add/remove programs. Just look for the name of the dialer, Also if your running XP uninstall norton it's as about as usefull as a lead balloon. install bullguard (don't do this if your running 98 it might go nuts on you) that will also help. Once you ID this thing you can also delete in the regedit, also you might want to a disk clean and if you have it remove all restore points, then ok for everything else. that will help as well. hope this helps and good luck keep me posted.

I will take yr advice and delete norton and load in bullguard. But the problem is I can easily get rid of it(the dialler) in add & remove progs, and get rid of all trace of it, but whilst i am online it somehow then reinfects my system and away we go again, with the dialling up to premium rate number. I can delete it each time (after having connected thru the dialler) by disconnecting then deleting the dialler from network connections, (its generally either called NV dialler or GB dialler), and also in add and remove programmes, but its still costing a fortune.  It is never there when i connect to the internet as i always check, but along it will come once connected, then it is listed in network connections.
Drivin me nuts!!

If that dialer comes back after loading BG check and make sure you did not check the box that says always trust downloads from whatever co. this is. Bg will ask you if you want this change simply tell it no, but before you do that check the remember this answer box. Keep me posted and good luck. You never did say what OS you are running.

With XP pro, make sure once your clean of this to do a disk clean and then shut off your system restore.
