Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:
to your desktop .
Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan , then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected .
When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
Copy and Paste that log into your next reply, along with fresh hijackthis log.
NB : If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.
Do NOT post your problem in someone elses thread.

Just before I restarted, there was another prompt from mbam along with reboot prompt, that said something to the effect that certain files cant be deleted as original windows files were replaced by them so insert win2k3 cd. I went ahead and rebooted it anway. After restart, I opened mbam again and deleted those files, this time there was no prompt. Tried opening command prompt it worked, not sure if I still need to check/repair the OS? here is the mbam log - Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.24 Database version: 1054 Windows 5.2.3790 12:55:07 AM 8/15/2008 mbam-log-8-15-2008 (00-55-07).txt Scan type: Full Scan (C:\|D:\|E:\|) Objects scanned: 103403 Time elapsed: 37 minute(s), 30 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 1 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 2 Registry Data Items Infected: 3 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 4 Memory Processes Infected: C:\WINDOWS\system32\SSVICHOSST.exe (Worm.Sohanad) -> Unloaded process successfully. Run a scan with HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): O7 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, DisableRegedit=1
Reboot, post new hijackthis log and tell how things are running now ?

Other than that cmd, regedit and task manager all are working fine now.
