I've encountered a problem where when I try to connect to aol via 56k  modem and aol gives me a message that some other program is using the modem. I've made sure i dont have any programs open that would need to use the modem. I'm thinking now that there is a virus that is using the modem. Has anybody heard of anything like this??? i really need to get this fixxed.

 What OS and Antivirus program are you running, If it's xp and bullguard scan and see if there's something there. It sounds to me like you might have a corrupted driver for your modem or even your ISP connection. let they're tech support walk you thru your connection. They will also tell you how to query your modem to see if there is a problem there as well.
