Im so freaked out. A few weeks ago i kept getting disgusting popups (porn and crap) and then, a whole bunch of stuff got downloaded on my machine without my premission! (casinos, programs, porn dialers etc etc.) and the lastest 1 before all of this happened was called Internet Optimizer i think. So then i ignored it and went along with my bisnuess, so i found all of theese IE toolbars and my page was hijacked 2, I-Lookup.com! So after that, a thing on the side of my screen called People On Page i think is there and it even shows there pictures! So a few days later, my start menu started freezing up, and the popups got worse! So then, my desktop had NOTHING on it. No start menu, no start toolbar, no desktop items, just a lonely blue desktop. So the onlyway i can use programs is through ctrl+alt+delete and new task. And thats how im using my computer. Now, everytime i go to a website, my browser err how can i put it....it bounces! And i cant use aol! And everytime I scan norton it dosnt do anything! I downloaded bullgaurd, ad-aware and spybot S&D and those just got 2 1 file and stopped! And i tried like 3 of those online scanners and everytime it got 2 that same file the others got 2, it'd say "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close". Now my computer keeps restarting itself (there is no shut down message) Randomly!! HELP!!! Please im so desprate and im about 2 blow a fuse i swear! And when i go on safemode, I cant delete any of the infected files because it would restart iteself right when i get to it! HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! IM SO DESPRATE!!
You might want to get CWShredder, spybot, but I usually suggest ad-aware6, it's the easiest to use. If you need anything else just call. Btw I new someone that went by that name once and he was not one you wanted to cross.
ok when it shuts down are you getting amessage that pops up and counts down?? if so try going to start run and type shutdown -a
I had a similar problem with acilents pc where it would boot up but get no desktop and you had to run using task manager. I never did get that one complete unscrewed until I decided i was just gonna do a low level format on it and then reinstall XP and it works great now. One thing I did notice with that pc was the the harddrive would show errors when I ran scandisk or chkdsk -p. I have a NTFSCHK program that does a scandisk type scan for NTFS programs and it came back clean but regular chkdsk and scandisk showed errors. well i low lvl format the hard drive and reinstall now all is well. NOt sure if you want to go to that extreme or not. You should be able to save all of your date to a cdrom if you have a burner in your pc before you do it
if you are on XP, the hijacker is probably hiding in System restore. Can you boot to SAFE mode and shut off System restore? CWShredder then should take care of the home page problem. And for the others, I don't know if Ad-Aware and Spybot will correct them. But you should run both. I have found that since they have dome minor differences it then definitions files, each will pick up some the other will miss. Also run your AV scan. if you are using Nortot or McCafee, run them and then get either Bullguard or AVG. Both will find more than the other two.
if all else fails, Dunkles low level format and reinstall will be the only sure bet.
Do not low level format that will mean a new HDD. you can also turn off restore in normal mode just go to control panel basic info on your computer system restore put check in the box that says shut down system restore. then reboot do a cold reboot then do a disk clean and that should help. But only if your running XP.
