Listen Guy's the thing that bugs me about writers is that the guy that wrote blaster now has a gov. job that pays in one year more than I make in 3. As far as Bill Gates goes I'm not a fan if he can't buy it he steals it,if you don't believe me take a good look at win NT 4.0 and compare it to Novell sometime and reaching way back take a look at win 3.1 it has a striking simalarity to the original GUI in the apple computers, and right now he's after Linux because Linus Torvalds told HIM to bugger off! Talk to the people Who just won a 638 Million dollar lawsuit over windows media player 9! Linux is much more stable than windows ever even dreamt of being. Why do you think he now has XP the graphics are fantastic but, he had to get ownership of a large portion of apple to do it.
as true as that may be, part of microsofts vulnerabilities is that he's a bit of a bully, he has everything to where he is the sole owner, good idea but, he's made enemies on the way, sun microsystems is one. Ever hear of Star office, it was a project that sun was working on in conjunction with microsoft, Gates when it was almost through took it and ran so sun micro said screw it they turned the whole 40 million dollar project into freeware. It has the same capabilities as office 97, without microsoft telling you they own it your just renting it. I normally don't reccomend this but, watch the pirates of silicon valley, it's the story of both Bill Gates and Steve Jobs of Apple, Gates has an ego problem, and Jobs snubbed him in the beggining But Gates was right about one thing, Jobs had issues of his own that would destroy him and apple. The GUI I refered to in first message, origanally belonged to xerox was given to Apple because they did not know what they had(can you believe that). He stole that for win 3.1 marketed it in Japan because he couldn't get it to work right. when it hit here Jobs knew (to late) that Gates was the bigger pirate. In my humble opinion the Chrity work that he does although good is to assage guilt (maybe) but is also a very lucrative tax break and good pr microsoft.
But at the end of the day, none of us could make Windows what it is, and even though it may have vunerabilities, none of us could even get close to making Windows
Plus the fact that you might be writing this post in windows means that we can hardly say that its rubbish

But, bear in mind that 99.9% of the computers out there run on windows and like everyone else I learned on windows, it's ease of use is it's best feature but, the stability of the product leaves one lacking, lets also discuss, cost. The average cost of maintaining a windows machine is alot when you add anti-virus, office, and almost any other app known to be used in windows. True that none of us could not write it he coud'nt either, he's a brilliant salesman, pr guy, but he's no software "architecht".The people around him wrote the stuff he just marketed it and done so brilliantly. Now as far as writing this on windows I did but I could have done the same thing on linux, cheaper, including office, aweb browser that can be set for you personally and, it can with the very same OS be a highly effective server, capable of adding 150 pc's with no license fees, windows gives you five. yes he's got a good thing going but he's had no one to compete with him and now that he has he don't like it. That is what all the anti-trust lawsuits have been about. If you want to read a report on the cost of a windows server as opposed to a linux server and the reliability factor, here's my email address lone_eagle49@yahoo.com . write me and i willsend you an article telling you of a university that experimented with both and what the net results were. Oh by the by all of my Linux os's you can get for free, try that with windows and your liable to get thrown in jail.
Oh dont get me wrong, i totally agree with you that Windows is absoluly crap compared to Linux price and saftey wise. I think that linux provide it free is fantastic and that microsoft should do the same or at least knock these rediclious amounts of XP and Office programs. I would like to use Linux more but i have to switch to XP to run certain programs and for certain tasks. The prices are just unbelivable and Linux is most probably proved better and more stable for servers because thats what most companies run thier servers on. And i agree myself that it is stable and more secure compared to windows Its just a shame that we all have to live with microsoft.
I blame them all. Microsoft for making unsecure software, and other software companies for not making the software for Linux !!!
It is true that linux does lack a certain useability tha microsoft does have but give them time there just starting to go mainstream, go check out Mandrake 10.0 I already have 8.1 and 9.2 and looking to get 10 up until now the only thing you could use linux on had to be intel proccesors. 9.2 and up you can use on AMD processers. I don't know if you run much office or not but the new koffice has gotten way better. definatly worth a check. you can find this at mandrakelinux.com or just mandrake.com that's for the paid full distributions but well worth the money. If you go to your favorite browser type in free Linux app downloads you'll probably be astounded to see what pops up but be carefull there are some bad guys even in that sector. In my mind Maybe Gates should quit trying to eliminate the competition and try to find ways of working with them who knows he might come out with a more secure product. He's got the pc market wrapped let Linux havethe server market and then find ways to work with linux to keep windows on the desktops, I mean think about it unless your in the IT field you don't know what a server is or care what it runs on the only time you care iswhen it don't work. OK enough soapbox. look if your interested there's a little on line club tha i'm part of that is looking for members called Tux's Titans go thru MSN communities and look for it or send me an email and i'll directly link you Its free no dues but we have links to several linux sites that might be able to answer question about the product, I hope to see you there.
thought I had lost you, the reason I asked for your email was you get in kinda by invite, the last club for linux I put myself into linux 101 put more porn in my email than anything so please be careful with it ok. we have only 4 members Dave D. who's one of the founding members and the Manager then there's me David W. Asst. Manager or Lone_ Eagle then My wife youll figure it out. what we do is share info on linux if you have any or a new link post it or mail it to us, OH btw the pics are of the Manager.
Little Billy is a #%%Y¤%(&(¤, he only donates to ccharity to look good. Everybody knows that. Even B. Spears donates money to look good (big surprize)... so frankly i might use Microsoft but that is only because i know how to use it. my next program is LINUX and i am getting it in the fall along with a new PC... Yippeeeee
Im sorry, but at the end of the day, you are using windows , right ?, now lets say i took that off and put dos or whatever you want on it, you would be the first to moan .......
Now just to add, i like Linux very much and think its better than windows, but at the end of the day, say what you like, a lot of people would be stuck without windows

I kinda gotta go with destroyer on this one, not to say I like windows better, but most most people use it.(you And I included) linux is a whole other ball game it's not like windows there are certain things you need to know. (and damn well better remember) one of them is always and I mean always make sure of your password with win you can hit cancel and still get in linux will tell you to bite me, you ain't gettin in. I am a mandrake OEM distributer So you will also have to make sure of your hardware compatability, if it's not compatible it ain't runnin. with that being said, enjoy whatever version your getting and welcome to open source.!!
