Just the other day I got BullGuard. I didn't think my computer was infected at first. Cause there were no symptoms on my computer. Shortly after, I did a system restore, did another virus scan, and no sign of the Trojan was present. Did I do the right thing???
I'd say if your computer anti virus says you have not got a virus, then you probably don't. but be careful of that restore viruses tend to write themeselves in there just to be annoying, if your clear I would do a diskclean just to remove all but the latest restore points (found under the more options tab) then restart and scan again with bullguard. Just to make sure. Oh btw turn off restore for the second scan. Eagle
oh ya that reminds me you shouldnt keep system restore off i dont know why but some files (that were important) got deleted and i couldnt get them back but i solved that problem a while ago...Tiger-Stripe
yeah tiger, What kind of files ? I've never had that one before. If your losing files then they must have been corrupted and were lost on the virus removal. Eagle
I have lost Notepad.exe before. But it was due to a virus and/or the way I removed it. I recall somewhere that some virus will trash notepad. Restore will not return a missing .exe, but if the true problem is that the baddie overwrote the registery entries for notepad, and restore returns the old ones, then you get back the use of something you never really lost, just 'misplaced' Option 2 is to export your registery file when it is clean. Then you can import it in lieu of running restore, and leave restore off. You can then import the saved file if you need to go back for any reason. Rather a manual restore function. You can export it thusly: Start -> Run [regedit] from the regedit menu bar, select Registry -> ExportRegistery File and name it as you will Of course, use the Import Registry File to do the restore.
I'm well aware of the uses of HTML, But, how are you going to ftp the frigging site from notepad? the reason frontpage was brought about was to make it easier to do just that! when the office programs came to be they left out the ftp programs and when they came about as seperate entities, notepad was a footnote, everything was designed around to be used in word or powerpoint, then came front page wich combined the two. So my question still stands, How do you make a website from notepad? Tiger look foward to hearing from you on that one.

P.S. Always interested in learning something new or maybe in this case old?
You can get stand alone ftp programs-or at least you always could haven't looked lately. It is certainly more handy to have a WYSIWYG program from creating websites but I've made some nice little sites over the years with notepad before there were WYSIWYGs and the code was always MUCH cleaner. My preference is for Golive or Dreamweaver over Frontpage although I'm sure Frontpage has improved over the years.
Actually it is good to hear there are people out there who can still use HTML. Our designer used DreamWeaver and just gave you a blank stare if you adked him about HTML.
That explained what I was asking. I myself have not written in HTML and when I was taught (and that was only A couple of years ago)we did everything in word and used a seperate ftp program and yes Frontpage has improved but, it still isn't perfect but they are dumming it down for people like me who don't have a clue as what to do with websites.

P.S. What I was taught stressed repair not programming, I might can get around in a OS, but I definatley can't write one.
