Please note that the Gamer’s Edition comes with a 1-user license and 1 Gigabyte of Online Backup as opposed to the 3-user license and 5 Gigabyte of Online Backup in BullGuard Internet Security.
Hi
I have to say I am a little disappointed with the release version only having 1 user license. I purchased the original SteelSecurity based on the previous version of Bullguard which came with the standard Bullguard 3 licenses. I was looking forward to purchasing the new version and installing it on my laptop and gaming box... now its far more cost effective to just purchase the standard Suite, giving me 3 licenses and 5 times the backup! The backup doesn't bother me as much as I never used it but still 5 Gig is an added bonus.
yea why only one , when most of the BG user need 3 I have 3 pc and i use BG 8,0 on the 2 of them and 1 as Beta version and i like the beta version (it works) but if there is only one licences on BG Beta i have to go back to the BG 8,0 (as i have pay for) I hope there will come a solution for this problem
Indeed, 1 licence is not really enough. Me and my other half both play games and have been using the same subscription for some time. Between us we have three computers. I'd rather have the normal version than end up buying two Gamer's Editions for the same household. Silly really...
Most other software products only give you one license. Especially for residential use. Most business users end up purchasing multiple licenses or a mass license so that they can use it on all machines.
I mean I agree that having 3 licenses would be very nice but I wouldn't be upset if they reduced it to 1.

I agree other software is usually single licence but for me its the choice between gamer edition or the standard suite. I just think it makes it is a little pointless to purchase the Gamer edition if you have more than one machine when the standard edition offers you better value for money. The previous version of Bullguard Steel Security came with the same 3 licences as the standard edition, so why the new release only allows 1 is a bit strange I feel. I've always loved the gamer plugin and it's served me well but I can't see me purchasing it with one licence. I'd still recommend to anyone who only needs one licence though..... just a little disappointed its not for me.
I just signed on to ask again to have my free trial extended again for the beta cuz it just expired. I was also gonna ask when was it gonna be released cuz I'm satisified and ready to pay for the retail program.
then I saw this thread...
most programs come with one license?
a growing number of them come with 3
including all of the security programs I'd consider other than bullguard.
heck even MS is gonna give ya a year of their onecare along with office07home on 3 licenses for &70USD
granted I'm not interested in onecare, but that's where this market is headed
I have multiple systems, and game to various degrees on all of em, but I'm not gonna buy multiple single licenses from anyone.
so basically I'm supposed to believe that the cost of the gamer plugin = cost of 2 licenses?
screw that
sry
I was quite happy running steelsecurity last year or so with its 3 licenses on my 3 systems. and I recommended it to all the gamers I knew.
I really hope they reconsider this, otherwise I'm moving on to someone else, cuz I ain't gonna give them money for their regular product for cutting back on this one.
that's still rewarding behavior that I dont agree with.
Wow, have just read this thread after being away for a bit. I am very disappointed that there is only going to be 1 license per household
We have 3 computers and we are all gamers, and as posters have expressed above, I also will not be purchasing 3 licenses. The gamer's edition is good, but not THAT good. Bg 8.0 (if we choose to keep it now that this is an issue) was always more than sufficient for 90% of our needs, if not sometimes intrusive when you're gaming.
Greyfish 7 is correct, there are many security programs with 3 licenses, including the dreaded windows live one care, it is definitely not an uncommon feature.
Had I known there was only going to be the 1 license on offer, I wouldn't have bothered to beta test. I'm gutted, but I'm really furious as well.
This is definitely not on bullguard
I really like having a gamers security program now, and I hate to say it, but now that I've gotten used to it, I will be looking around for a gamers suite that allows the 3 user license that I require if bg remains inflexible on the 1 license only. I really hope they rethink this.
I contacted the support team about the issue... I did ask why the change of policy from the SteelSecurity version but that was not really covered in the answer. In fact they seem to just be treating it as a new product, and for them it may be, but for me and others its a second version which is losing 2 licences.... hmmmm oh well guess i'll look else where.
The word 'only' (2nd one!) in this line was bold and underlined: 'Since this product has only been designed for clients who use their computer only for gaming purposes,'
Anyway heres the full reply:
Thank you for contacting BullGuard's Support Team.
Please note that Gamer's edition is not just a different version of the BullGuard Internet Security suite, but it is a special product designed only for gaming purposes. Its main purpose is that of allowing gaming sessions without compromising game play while still protecting the computer. Since this product has only been designed for clients who use their computer only for gaming purposes, it has been established that a 5000 MB of backup space is not necessary for this product, nor is a three user license. To reflect the changes in the terms of use for the Gamer's edition, the price of this suite is of only 49.99 euros, compared to 69.95 euro for the BullGuard internet Security suite.
Please remember our Support Service is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week at support@bullguard.com and http://www.bullguard.com/support/live-support.aspx , or through the BullGuard application > Support section. Do not hesitate to contact us if you require any additional assistance or information.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Kind Regards, Elmira Mustafa BullGuard Support Team

If you ask me, I think they've just assumed that most gamers only have 1 gaming pc, which is quite right.
I mean I may have multiple pcs, but each of them are for different things, I only have 1 gaming pc.- Crystalizer
I appreciate what Crystalizer is saying, but while some may have more than 1 computer in the house, it's usually because they belong to other members of the household, not necessarily because they are each designated and delegated (--->gaming pc here<---). I have to ask then Crystalizer if you are going to purchase the gaming edition to run on your gaming pc and the regular 8.0 to protect your other computers?
My house consists of 3 people and we each have our own pc's. We all game heavily, and two of us are extremely dedicated gamers of over 40 hours a week each, and all of our computers are set up as gaming systems. We haven't designated computer A for a said task, computer B for another, computer C for gaming - if we did, there would be war in the house over the gaming computer!
Perhaps our family is unusual, but I doubt it.
I'm beginning to see this as a real money spinner for bg. They know exactly how many of their clients have multiple pc's in the home and I'm sure they are aware that the average family of gamers have all set up their own pc's for gaming. I haven't a clue where we would put so many excess computers if we each had 1 pc solely dedicated to gaming and only gaming, and then each had another for checking mail, writing the occasional letter and casual surfing. I simply cannot get my head around this idea of my house littered with computers because we did nothing more on our gaming pc's then game?!?
This has just completely put me off bullguard, and I highly doubt I will renew my subscription because of it.
yeah so it's up now at $49.99 a year for 1 license.
at first I was thinkin I should've said something in my post like "I understand they need to recoup the costs of developing the game plugin so I'll pay $10, maybe even $20 over the regular security suite for the gamer edition with the usual number of licenses."
or something similar.
so if I wanted a complete bullguard household I'd have to buy the gamer edition for my principle gaming system, and then what? the regular edition for the others?
this is getting too convoluted for me.
I was very happy with 1 product, for gamers, on all my systems. that way I didnt have to muck about with zonealarm, avg, avast, kaspersky, or whoever on the rest of my pcs. I had one account that covered them all.
convenient.
I liked that.
put the cost at $10 over the cost of the regular security suite and give me 3 licenses and I'll be happy.
maybe steelsecurity will sell it as steelsecurity2 with more licenses at their higher price. I can hope I liked the blue color better anyway :)
what really confuses me is why there are multiple subscription levels for their regular product, but not this. one gamer edition to rule them all?
screw it, have the same tiered structure as everything else, it's not like the infrastructure for such a scheme doesn't already exist.
I have my gaming pc for anything that I do - which is mostly gaming but also includes coding, surfing, etc.
Then I have a media pc wired up to my hdtv for movies, etc.
Lastly, I have a pc for others to use, should I have a guest or something, and my various laptops for when I'm out. I use my gaming pc the most, its my greatest concern out of all my pcs.
I would buy the gaming edition just for this pc - its cheaper than the one with 3 licenses anyway.
The other pcs are quite happily protected with any free software like avg.
They're not used as frequently, nor do they require so much protection.
I mean my media pc doesn't even have an internet connection so a firewall is rather pointless.
Some of you have asked why the release-version comes with only 1-user license, as opposed to the 3-user license in the normal BullGuard. The answer is that we wanted to find a price for the product which suited the average gaming-audience, i.e. a price that is lower than our normal BullGuard Internet Security price.
Since Gamer’s Edition can be seen as “BullGuard Internet Security with something extra”, we needed to find a way to justify a lower price, and not upset our huge existing subscriber-base J We did this by lowering the user-license from 3 to 1, and by only bundling 1GB Backup-drive instead of 5GB.
It should be noted that you can actually upgrade your normal BullGuard Internet Security to a Gamer’s Edition through our webshop – if you do that, you keep your right to 3 users and 5GB backup-drive, but you also pay accordingly: Normal Internet Security price plus a premium. This way, we hope to keep you all happy J
