Currently there is no pop-up "ask" to allow Outlook Express through the Firewall. You have to manually set it up yourself. Bullguard also prohibits the ability to receive hotmail (No, Socket Error: 12029, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E) in Outlook Express. Finally the scanning of messages takes far, far more time than any other ant-virus program I have ever used.
I have reported the same problems to the Bug team. I have made a FULL test of what happens (blocks and lags). I have made a FULL test of how to solve the problem ...
* Dechecking the in- and outgoing email monitoring doesn't solve the problem
* Dechecking the spamfilter doens't soleve the problem
* Dechecking the firewall doesn't solve the problem
*** The problem WAS solved though when i closed the Bullguard from the system bar (bottom rightmost icon). Without bullguard running and monitoring i experience NO problems with my Outlook Express - neither blocks or lags
Intelligence without wisdom is an empty option: I don't have problems ... i have solutions !
Just for the record, I have not had any problems with Microsoft Outlook. Maybe it is just Outlook Express that has the issue.
When you installed this Beta version did you uninstall the old Bullguard or is this your first time with BG? When I uninstalled I used the options to save previous settings and was just wondering if that made a difference at all?
Interesting, when I installed the beta I was advised by BG online chat not to save the previous settings...I wonder how much of a difference it really makes?
I use Outlook Express and have had no problems whatsoever with the beta.
I was truly surprised to find out when I ran an email scan that I have 15,000 emails in there somewhere Saying that, the scan only took 2 minutes.
(I must admit I never ran an active scan of the emails before this - I just let the program do it's job, but I'm trying to give every feature a good workout)
I've been using Bullguard for 2 years and it is the most reliable antivirus program, I'm thrilled that the Gamers is so far just as reliable and can't wait until it goes 'live'
oh, I wonder if it did make a difference. I had no idea not to save the settings. Like all things online there is so much to read and its not like a booklet that gives page by page directions. It is easy to miss a link or message.
I wonder if I should remove BG and not save the settings and try to reinstall and see what happens.. any feedback from the Bullguard team regarding this would be most welcome.
1500 emails in there somewhere!! yikes, maybe you should be ruthless and delete some..
Just a quick post to agree with a few people here. After installing the Gaming Beta (first BG install on this system) and running the initial setup steps Outlook Express couldnt connect to the Hotmail service to check for new mail. Further to this MSN Live Messenger also wouldnt sign-in. It was only when I closed BG on the taskbar that I was able to log in to both applications and access the service.
I restarted BG after both had been logged in and they are now working in tandem. I wonder though whether this will happen again if I reboot the system and if so then its a bit of a pain.
Previously I was using Avast + ZoneAlarm. Due to some issue of compatibility: http://www.avast.com/eng/faq-home-webshield.html I had to change my proxy settings. Which I forgot to change back when I installed Bullguard. Once I changed back the settings everything was fine. Hotmail comes in fine, though I do get mail from a private server which takes a long time to show up in my mail client to which I assume is because of a lengthy scan time.
