I have been using Bullguard for more than a year and i find it difficult to use. The people on the helpline try hard but there are shortcomings on the program which make it hard for me.
When I run a scan it tells me "Infections =0, Skipped 4000". What is this? Did it skip 4000 infections or 4000 files why?
Sometimes it gives me a message, for instance "outlook express has changed, Do you want to keep the current settings" How do I answer this? is it the current old settings that I had or the current new settings that it thinks I have now.!!. The program is riddled with problems like this and unless you are a computer "Nerd" you just have to guess at the answer and hope its the right one. BigMal
I have had serious virus which Bull guard failed to prevent and cure without going through support who as a computer illiterate found very difficult to understand and operate. I am very disapointed as I consider they have failed me and with nearly 18 month subs paid for no protection will not refund the balance.
infections = 0 means no virus found, av programs all skip locked files for example the spybot search and destroy quartine area were removed cookies etc are stored, if you have spybot or adaware you can delete these files as not necessary to keep, i myself would normally see about 40-50 files skipped, when asked about keeping settings Bg has seen say Outlook changed for some reason-usually an update from ms and its really letting you know of this change , if you start seeing a lot of these changes and you know you have had no updates then you may have some form of malware in your system.
Hi David there are some viruses that can get on your system through downloads etc and there are times when they are extremely hard to remove not only for BG but AVG and Norton and all the other AV's out there, some like BG and norton now have remote access were the AV people can take control of your pc and remove the infected file manually.
Hi Arcane, Thank you for your interest and comments when I contacted support I was not offered the remote access option and was only made aware of it when I rang and complained requesting the return of the outstanding amount of my subscription, it would have certainly helped me through.
It is only when you have a problem that you find out the strength and worth of the service provided.
Here I am back again and please to say that Bullguard has turned up trumps for me, after another rotten virus I thought that I would try again with them and after using the chat facility they solved and cleared the problem for me. I apologise to Bullguard for all my derogratory comments and know now that the answer is there with them.
