Hi all,
backdraft: the most likely cause is that your ISP regularly pings your PC during long periods of inactivity in order to check if you are still using your Internet connection. BullGuard's firewall blocks the packets sent by the ISP and thus your connection is blocked. Here are the steps you need to follow in order to solve this problem (these instructions are for the 5.0, 5.1, 6.0 or 6.1 version and Windows XP):
1. Open BullGuard's console by double clicking its small icon from the system tray.
2. Go to the Firewall section > Overview tab and select the Advanced user level.
3. Go to the Profiles tab and double click the Custom Security profile.
4. Select the Application list tab from the window that appears, right click an empty row and select Add application...
5. Browse to C:\Windows\System32, select the ntoskrnl.exe file and click the Open button.
6. A new rule will be created. Please make sure you set the policy to Allow.
7. Repeat steps 4. through 6. in order to allow the ping.exe file as well.
8. Select the Advanced rules tab afterwards, and double click the <Protocols> box, from the Ports & Protocols section of the ICMP Settings rule.
9. Select Entire traffic from the second drop-down menu and place a check mark next to these options:
- Echo Reply [0]
- Echo Request [8]
10. Confirm the changes by clicking OK and make sure you activate the Custom Security profile.
11. Reboot the PC if necessary and check if the problem persists.
mrice: the instructions mentioned above will probably solve your first problem as well. Regarding the second one, full screen games are minimised because BullGuard tries to notify you about a ceratin event. It could be a port scanning attempt, an update that has been implemented, a virus detected by the real-time scanning engine, or a scheduled backup or scanning session. Please try to turn off all these notifications and check if that solves the problem.
Do not hesitate to post again or contact our Support Team ( support@bullguard.com) in case you encounter any further BullGuard related issues. Cheers,
