I keep getting a message saying bullguard has detected an attack etc and temporarily blocked the attackers IP.

It keeps happening every 5-10mins at times. I want to ban the IP which is 0.51.0.3

How do i do this?

any help would be appreciated,
Dan

I can give you some instructions for V6.1 but I am not familiar with V7.0 which may be slightly different. Firstly, you have to use the firewall in Advanced Mode, select this under the Overview tab. Next, select Profiles tab and double click on Custom Security. Then select Advanced Rules tab. Right click on the next free line and select Add New Rule. Then enter the IP you wish to ban and press enter. Click on OK to confirm.
Another way of doing it is the next time you get a warning of an attack select Logs tab then security log. Look for the line containing the IP you wish to ban. Right click on it and select ban > ban remote IP address. This will also create an Advanced Rule.
Hope you can adapt this to whatever version of Bullguard you are using.

You may still get notifications even if you have created an Advanced Rule, but that IP is now permanently banned. You can also specify the length of the ban for regular port scans. I find that having a longer ban time cuts down on some of the repeat notifications. Try
  1. Select Firewall
  2. Double click on Custom Security (under Profiles tab)
  3. Select Security tab.
  4. Look for Automatically Block intruders for X Seconds..........change the value given to something much greater...I use 7200 secs, but anything will do.
  5. Click on OK to confirm.
Any port scan attacker will now be banned for a longer time.

Thanks for the info!

I have done this too now, so that should make a lot of difference. I have had no problems so far :-)
