I recently installed Bullguard 7 and I'm having problems with Outlook (note, Outlook part of Office, not Outlook Express). When I try to mark e-mails as spam using the "This is Spam" button, Outlook fails. Similarly if I use the "This is not Spam". I'm working with the support people but don't seem to be getting very far. Anybody else had problems?
I thought it may be due to left-overs from my previous Norton security but I used Symantec's own uninstaller and later, following instructions from Bullguard, deleted Symantec registry items and remaining files. Any help will be gratefully received.
Second, when sending e-mails, I always get a message from Outlook saying something is trying to access my addressbook. Presumably this is Bullguard? Anything I can do to stop this annoyance?
>>1. For your second problem ("Outlook saying something is trying to access my addressbook") I must advise you to allow BullGuard to retrieve the information it needs from the email client and answer "Yes" to the "A program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this?" question.
Additionally, you should choose to allow access for 2 or 5 minutes (from the drop-down menu in that window) and check that the following options are enabled in BullGuard’s Spamfilter section > Overview tab: Automatically whitelist addresses I write to Automatically whitelist CC’s of trusted senders
If this does not solve the problem please let me know.
>>2. For your first issue please PM me and I will try to assist you further.
Since posting my message I have received instructions from Bullguard to reinstall. This seems to have solved the problem of Outlook crashing. I will be e-mailing with the ticket referece soon.
On the issue of Bullguard accessing my address book. I can do as you say and tick the box. It is only inconvenient. I was hoping to be able to set something so the message box doesn't come up every time. If it isn't possible from within Bullguard, there is a add-in available for Outlook which might solve it.
