I have the exact same problem with updating my Bullguard v. 8.0  I am running Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3.
Since 12.05.2008 I've been in contact with the Bullguard online support, and they have tried to help me with the problem - but without succes. Among other things we tried:
- re-installation of Bullguard (several times)
- changing user (as suggested in this thread)
- making sure that no other security-programs are installed and running on my laptop
- making sure that all of my settings are correct
- somekind of a manual update from the command line prompt
I really can't remember all the things we tried to this point, but none of it's worked in my case. Do any of you have some bright ideas I could try?? It's really frustrating to have an internet security solution, that doesn't work properly.
