I downloaded a trial version of BullGuard through Kazaa and since then I have had to deal with all sorts of popups amongst other things advertizing a Casino and probably spyware which I don't want. Why is this sort of material included with Bullguard and how do I get rid of it?
BullGuard is AD-FREE!! Any commercial popups you get are most likely from Kazaa, if you have that installed. That's also where you get that annoying PerfectNav thingy in your explorer...
It's not Bullguard. More than likely, you have Windows Messenger (not the IM client) on and somehow your surfing has landed you quite a few cookies that throw out the message that broadcast messages can be sent to you and hence, you have popups advertising everything from casino trips to viagra.
First step to help this: buy a router and get behind it. Second step: regardless what these other guys say about Google, I have more faith in their toolbar (if you have to use IE), get the Google toolbar and do not use the advanced features. Third step: turn off Messenger (if you have 2K or XP) by going to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services -> Messenger and turn it off, and disable the startup type.
To find the cookies and other spyware that's buried in your machine, I suggest going to www.lavasoftusa.com and getting Ad Aware 6. One of the best progs I ever bought.
Hi Folks Unlike our friend who mentioned he or she downloaded Bullguard from Kazzaa and it was being reported as spyware I downloaded Bullguard directly from Bullguard.com and it to reports back as being and or containing spyware I have run several scans with three ( 3 ) very well known spyware removal programs 2 out of 3 report Bullguard.exe as being spyware the 3rd reports it as a virus? Whats up with that? I have even sent email to bullguard reguarding this matter and have gotten no response. something seems awful fishy with that? So if any of you good people reading this have any ideas or for that matter solutions I am all eyes at this point as I have found on other systems and with older versions of Bullguard that it really is a kick ass virus scanner it sure worked better then Norton 2003 and any version of Macafee theres a virus waiting for a cause if I ever seen one anyway as they say thats all for now if you know something about this let us all know
